Customer Reviews

Many customers have commented on the fact that material the Teton Sports Explorer 4000 is made from seems durable and that there is a good amount of padding along and straps for a comfortable fit. The great thing is that everything is adjustable including torso height so you won’t have any problems getting this backpack to fit all body shapes and sizes.

For those occasions when a thunderstorm arrives it also has a quickly accessible rain cover which will definitely come in handy during those thunderstorms. The compression straps on the outside of the pack are big enough to hold a decent sized tent. The top will hold a sleeping pad without a problem. And if not, you can remove the straps or just pull them flat.

“Just got my Explorer 4000, and immediately packed my 20 degree sleeping bag, and it fit FINE – I took it out of it’s compression sack and stuffed it in thru the bottom zipper. I almost had room for my pillow and a queen-size sheet insert I use, but the insert was a little tight, so it went on bottom of main compartment. I got my pretty bulky sleeping bag in just fine, with no trouble zipping. I am certain only the biggest of sleeping bags would not fit.”

“This pack is perfect for camping! I couldn’t fit a warm sleeping bag in the hole though. But i could fit a lighter weight sleeping bag with a compressor pack in it. very sturdy and very comfortable. I am 5’6 and female and it was a great fit for me. Lots of pockets for different things. We used this for camping in Alaska during the summer.”

TETON Sports Explorer 4000 Internal Frame Backpack Review“I am an experienced backpacker, and an Eagle Scout. This is an excellent cargo pack. I was disappointed that the advertisement did not notify customers that the pack does not include the hydration bladder and tube, just the pack has a compartment and passage for them. The pack is easily customized to fit and be comfortable for any adult or older youth. The loops for holding an Ice Ax are a bit of a gimmick, but the pack is a quality unit that stands for itself even when the gimmicks are ignored.”
